Over July 4th weekend I booked it over to Joshua Tree to catch my college professor Waller play at Pappy & Harriet’s (a legendary venue out in Pioneertown). These photos hardly do the evening justice. I can’t get the band’s cover of Waterloo Sunset out of my head! Also Waller & his violinist Nora have set me down the infinite path of Nina Simone for the summer, so for that I am extra thankful.
Wow, I am actually getting close to catching up on my concert photos…and I really really need to catch up soon cause I might have some exciting Los Angeles news on the horizon!
So at the end of September my friend Rick invited me to see Stolen Jars @ Arlene’s Grocery! I was pretty excited cause Rick had played me some of their music before, and I hadn’t been to Arlene’s in eternity.
The show was awesome, and I really dug the band! In fact last month when I was missing NYC during CMJ, I ran across this NPR article that included Stolen Jars in their “Top 10 discoveries from CMJ” That list also includes Weaves & Todd Slant who are two bands that are also worth checking out!
A little over a week ago I took some photos at The Black Strap, a DIY venue run by three very chill dudes! I thought the space was great, and the bands were awesome! Hope you enjoy the photos!
By the way…they also have a really sweet cat named Fury who is having rough medical problems. You should check out the Gofundme page for Fury! Also The Black Strap has another great show coming up in early August!
Been super busy recently but was very happy to get the chance to catch Prima & The Brooklyn What at The Gutter. They were both playing at a benefit show for Suffragette Zine! Hope you enjoy the photos!
I have been working for Fashion Dilettante, an amazing fashion blog since Fall 2012. I am primarily the lead editor on the website, however last fall I got the supreme privilege of attending a bunch of New York Fashion Shows for the Spring Summer 2013 season. Here are some of my photographs from the following shows: Jeremy Scott, Libertine, Katie Gallagher, Chris Benz, The Blonds, and Erin Fetherston! Enjoy the photos!!!
I have been quite busy recently. Turns out producing a film while working a full-time assistant editing/logging job can be quite demanding. Nevertheless I wanted to share with you guys some photos I have taken over the last couple months. All of these photos have been taken with my Iphone although I have used a variety of Apps (Camera+, Hipstamatic, Instagram, & Photosynth). Enjoy!
Break dancing outside Columbus Circle!
So little secret. I used to think the 1/2 bathroom in my parent’s apartment was haunted. My mom has collected a bunch of creepy photos from antique shops that should probably be used as production design for American Horror Story rather then I don’t know…decorations for a bathroom! This photo was the one that always creeped me out the most. In a way this photo always reminds me of Stephen King’s short story The Road Virus Heads North. Who knows maybe one day this ghost will catch up with me.
Opening Day at Citifield! Everyone was very excited cause the Mets won! Who knows maybe we will make the playoff this year….sigh.
So, I have sort of this avid curiosity surrounding art/graffiti that lies inside bathrooms at bars in New York. I discovered this amazing Periodic Table of Elements at Uncle Barry’s in Park Slope. I have a couple more photos of the posters!
Here is a panorama I did of a dive bar’s bathroom in Alphabet City.
Chilling in Central Park.
That in the distance was my high school. But in Black and White it might as well be labeled as a Mental Asylum…that or far less fun version of Hogwarts.
The In the Land of Milk and Honey Kickstarter is going strong! We have raised over $3,000! This was a photo I took while we were shooting the Kickstarter video!
At the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens! Had an awesome time with my girlfriend, Hannah. Below is a picture of her chilling out in a field.
Last month my close friend Genji made his return to America. I went to Philadelphia to hear him give a poetry reading at UPenn. Had an awesome time and I also got to sell a couple copies of my Zine!
Hopefully I will be able to post some videos of Genji reading in the near future, till then if you want to read some of Genji’s poetry check out his Tumblr.
On Cinco De Mayo I Went to Moves in Brooklyn. I went to see Anxieteam! They are a fun boppy electronic band that is made up of visual artists Jon Burgerman and Jim Avignon. I have seen them a few times and they are always a bunch of fun. Their shows always consist of cool masks and crazy costumes!
The Great Googa Mooga was full of lines and were super rude to my friend Sam , but I ended up having a pretty good time eating good food and listening to The Roots! Anyway at least I got to see this gigantic metal pig breath fire, with an actual roasting pig on the inside. Don’t see that every day.
So I have been stuck at work a lot recently. Doing this pretty cool assistant editing/logging gig for a reality television show. However, one big plus is the production office has a fantastic view!
Felix, my dog looking absolutely disgusting… He is kind of the bane of my existence.
Morton Street looking super beautiful!
I leave you with this photo I took of a goat eating a branches off a tree at west 4th street. It is not every day you see a goat on the leash, but then again, in this city, anything is possible!
